Now, each state has their own requirements for what massage training programs must teach in order to prepare you for the certification. Along with that, each state has their certification. Therefore, you should take the programs offered by the state that you are going to work in as that is the certification that you will need.
In order to become a CMT (certified massage therapist) you will have to study hard. They do have study aides for you to use to help you prepare for this. They do want you to succeed. However, there are a few things you have to do before you take this test in order to become a CMT. The first thing you have to do is submit an application to the board. You will have to have a background check done. You then also have to send a check. This is to cover the registration fee. Of course, you will need to get your transcripts. From there, they will tell you by letter if you can proceed.
You will have to take special courses. Now, in order to get these courses in, you will have to locate the massage therapy schools that you choose. This is where you will get the classes that will prepare you for the state exam. What is needed for you to complete the exam is that you have to have so many hours. The amount that you have to have is five hundred hours or courses. You have to get good grades in these classes as well in order to become certified. Once you become certified after having passed the exam, you will then have to do one last thing. You will have to then pledge to the codes that a massage therapist should live by. For some, these processes only take a few years, for some it might take longer. Between the application to being able to take the test all the way to actually completing the test itself, it can take a while and many find it to be hard, but in the end it can be all well worth it.
